I’m absolutely committed to giving my body only the purest foods possible. After years of learning about natural health, I know that feeding your body pure, organic raw ingredients is the best way to keep yourself in the best possible health. This is why, when I was searching for the best natural whey protein powder, I read all of the whey protein powder reviews I could find and tried many of them myself. When all was said and done, I found that Warrior Whey Protein Powder was the very best product available.
If you’re like me, you want to be in the best possible health. You want to get the most nutrition out of everything you eat, because you need the energy and strength to get through your very busy days. You want strong, lean muscles and a healthy body.
If you’re focused on weight loss, you want to feel great while you’re losing weight, not sluggish, hungry and weak. I knew I needed a good, natural whey protein powder to help nourish my body and make sure I got enough lean protein every day. Now that I’ve been using Warrior Whey Protein Powder for some time, I know I made the right decision and I’ll tell you all the reasons why.
What is Whey Protein?
The first thing I need to explain, in case you’re not familiar with it, is what whey protein is. Whey protein is made from raw milk. If you’ve ever made your own cheese, you know that whey is the liquid that’s left over after you separate out all of the milk solids. Whey is loaded with protein, and, when it’s kept as pure and unprocessed as possible and made from raw milk of pasture-raised cows, it’s also loaded with antioxidants and really important amino acids.
What Makes Warrior Whey Different from Other Brands
There are a number of things that make Warrior Whey Protein Powder so much better than other brands, even the more expensive ones:
Whey Concentrate vs. Isolate
Most whey protein powders are made from protein isolate, which means that it goes through more processing and filtering. The manufacturers like to claim that this results in almost pure protein content, which they say makes it a better product. The problem is that the extra filtering and processing removes a good deal of the important immune factors from the whey protein. It also denatures the protein, breaking down the amino acids.
This makes the protein and amino acids less accessible (harder to absorb). That means you get less of what you want from the protein powder. One way to look at it is that it’s like eating a fresh orange versus drinking a glass of orange juice; you get more nutritional value in the orange because you get all that great fiber and don’t lose any of the vitamins and minerals. It’s always best to eat foods that are processed and changed as little as possible.
Warrior Whey is made from protein concentrate. It’s less filtered and less processed and has all of the important immune factors intact. In fact, Warrior Whey is the only brand that actually tests for the immune factors to ensure that your immune system is getting the biggest boost possible.
Completely Organic and Natural
Organic Warrior Whey is a completely organic product. It’s made from the raw milk of pasture-raised cows and is completely free of pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, soy, gluten, fructose, and sugar alcohols. There are no artificial sweeteners, unlike other whey protein shake brands that use sucralose or other artificial sweeteners.
Other brands often contain pesticides or are made from the milk of cows that have been treated with hormones and antibiotics. Be careful; even organic products can contain hormones and antibiotics!
No unpleasant side effects
Some people experience some real discomfort when using other whey protein powders, such as bloating, gas or nausea. Because Warrior Whey is free of additives and the least processed whey powder, most people say they don’t have any of the side effects they’ve experienced before. One of the testimonials for Warrior Whey Protein Powder (taken from the DefenseNutrition website) says this:
“Like many, I have suffered from several negative side effects as a result of using store bought whey protein products. Most notable of these is the feeling of sickness after drinking them. Admittedly, I was very skeptical about Defense Nutrition because they promised to deliver amazing results. Since I began using Defense Nutrition Organic Warrior Whey I can say I have not suffered any feelings of sickness after drinking the protein.”
What I Really Like About Warrior Whey
I’ve been using Warrior Whey for quite a while now and there are quite a few things that I really like about it, besides all the things I’ve already mentioned:
- It has a naturally sweet taste. I usually buy the plain version, although this whey protein shake does come in many flavors, like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I just prefer to flavor it myself. But if you taste the powder straight from a spoon, it has a very subtle, nice sweetness to it. Sometimes I add a little Stevia to my shakes, but usually it tastes sweet enough on its own.
- It’s very smooth and creamy. A lot of the whey protein powders I tried had a grainy texture to them that made them hard to like. Let’s face it, no matter how nutritious something is, if you don’t really enjoy eating or drinking it, it won’t do you any good. Warrior Whey is really smooth and creamy and the texture of my shakes is every bit as good as an ice cream shake.
It’s amazing frozen. I like to make my whey protein shake the night before and then let it sit out while I’m getting ready in the morning. Then I just stir it up or blend it for just a second to smooth it. It makes it extra thick and rich. In fact, I sometimes just eat it frozen with a spoon. It makes it seem much more satisfying.
Whey Protein Shake
Like I said, I usually make protein shakes for my morning meal. I make quite a few different recipes, depending on what I have on hand and what I’m in the mood for. I have quite a few recipes in my article, How to Make a Protein Shake You’ll Love, if you’d like some ideas.
In addition to having a shake for breakfast, I also like to drink a Warrior Whey shake after a workout. Because of the bio-availability of the proteins, Warrior Whey is extremely good for muscle nourishment after exercise.
Marty Gallagher, a former coach for the Olympic Powerlifting team said this on the Warrior Whey page of the website: “Warrior Whey is groundbreaking in its nutritional appeal, taste and impact. For the purpose of muscular development, it has no equal.”
(By the way, another favorite protein snack of mine is a handful of ChocoWhey Nuggets, which is another Defense Nutrition product made from the same whey. If you want to read more about those, you can read my ChocoWhey Nuggets review.)
How Much Does Warrior Whey Cost?
Although it costs about the same as the brands sold in the health food stores, some people get a little anxious about the price of Warrior Whey Protein Powder. It runs about $29.95 per container, but that container yields 20 servings. If you break it down per serving, it’s only about $1.50 per shake and that’s actually a great deal. You can’t buy a ready-made shake or even a protein bar for that price, much less a meal.
Also, right now they’re doing a Buy 5, Get 1 Free deal, which makes it even more of a deal at $124.75.
